Tell them you never recieved the package
Buy something from a large dept store and have them ship it to your house. After you receive the package, wait a few days and call customer service.
You: Hi, just wanted to check the status on my package...
CS: Sir, the package was delivered last Thursday, it says here the delivery man placed it on the porch at 2:34pm.
You: I definitely did not get a package on Thursday.
CS: Ok sir, I'll go ahead and have another item shipped to you/I'll refund your money.
Literally that is the conversation you will have.
For some stores, once a product is in transit via the shipping carrier, they will no longer take responsibility. But apparently some will!! Which stores have ultra-lenient policies like this? And how expensive an item would they refund no questions asked?
Obviously you couldn't do this repeatedly to the same store... But say you did it to lots of different stores. Do they take it up with the shipping company each time? Would the shipping co. catch on? Then what?

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
I've read that Amazon ships stuff out again really quickly, usually no questions asked. You should try all kinds of stores and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you return the item and maybe lose the shipping cost. Just make sure you pick the cheapest shipping. Koko tried doing this once but picked overnight shipping (it was free). They make the receiver sign, so they have proof of delivery. Companies make sure to get a signature for expensive items too.

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
the bigger the company, the more likely they are to do this. they would rather send out the odd extra item than get a bad rep.

It seems so simple so most people should do it? But most of time I've had to sign for things which are even like £5 ??

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
What the stores do in this case is they file an insurance claim against the courier, so that means an insurance inspector will be nosing around later on down the road. The store loses nothing, and they get the full cost of the item back, but whoever ends up paying for those items will definitely be back to have a look.

That's what I was thinking. You will definitely get a phone call, what about a knock on your door?
"Sorry pal, it must have been stolen off my front porch." I wouldn't fuck with them repeatedly but you can probably get away with it at least once or twice. Get yourself a free iPad or something!

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
Even better, you could get a couple of your friends together, stagger the order patterns (you order one month, Jimmy orders another month), and set up a ring. Get multiple addresses, major bank could be made. You'd have to subtract for those deliveries that you have to sign for. I'd say that I've had to sign for a vast majority of my deliveries, though.

Someone else could have signed for it so I would try doing it even if they asked for a signature just sign differently then I normally do.

It's possible but what if the delivery person comes back and knows you signed for it even though you claim it wasn't you?

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
Microsoft does this as i found out accidentally.
I sent in a 360 for warranty repair, it was taking forever to show up so i called and was told it was lost in shipping and there was another on the way. It shows up in a day or two as they said, however in two weeks ANOTHER one shows up. Signed for both and i currently have both... even registered them. Never got a call, knock, etc.

The ups guy is scared of my neighborhood (he's black), so he always just dumps the shit on my porch and runs from the confederate flags. Maybe I should trying this?

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
I'll just chime in and say that nearly everything I've ordered has been clothing (T-Shirts, pre-orders for CDs, Hoodies etc...) and I have never once had to sign for a package.

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
Seems like this would work well for a one time thing. If you keep doing it you will get caught though. The insurance companies might take note when they realize they've refunded the last 23 shipments that were stolen from your porch.

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
I'll tell you guys from personal experience just like I said in another thread pretty much like this one. If you try to get packages resent more than once or twice the actual UPS guy will simply not leave it on your front door. It's ultimately up to him to make the decision, regardless if the package needs to be signed for or not. They will put you on a list and make you sign for every single package that gets sent there no matter how incredibly cheap it is. Just don't forget that....... the UPS man has the final say of whether a package stays or not. After having a package or two disappear he'll just quit leaving it there.

You wont get caught, they will just stop leaving it in front of your door... you do realize that it would be hard to prove against you?

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
What happens if the company ships things out with a tracking number?
If one does go through with this, will USPS just stop leaving things at your door? Or will USPS action be warranted only if several packages don't show up?

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
So, the consensus is it's best to do this with 1 item, keeping one & selling the the second item they send out b/c it would look suspicious if you ask for refund vs having the item reshipped?

Yes I would much rather sell both or just one and keep the other, depending what it is.

The issue with keeping one is anything worth doing this for would be electronic & have serial numbers. Probably would be best to sell both.

At least the one that was 'lost', though in the case of an ipod it wouldnt be a big deal, especially the non-touch ones.

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
My pal received a package from a certain large internet retailer today, and called to notify them that his package never arrived, as the ups guy is scared of his dog and just left it on his porch. The replacement is slated to arrive in a week or so.

Do tell. I've wanted to learn drums.
But I buy shit off of Newegg all the time. I build computers so my orders are usually in the $500-$1500 range, and I have never had to sign for a package. They always just leave the shit on my front porch. I have had to return parts because they just left them in the summer heat all day. I always get the cheapest shipping option BTW, no idea if this has anything to do with it.

This. Post Service offers tracking so they will know where the thing got 'lost' at the end, if it was sent to your local post office and poof well.............. 0_0

Post Service has an option for a few more dollars or cents to enable tracking where it tells you if it was shipped. I dont know if the businesses or w/e by default pay for it (depends on the business and how expensive things are) but i think the more expensive shit will be insured and the mail people MIGHT get a follow-up if something goes missing. Hmmm. Anyone here can give more info on this?
Also are you Ukrainian? Saw your cryllic signature.

You could also try saying that the more expensive part of your order was missing. Lets say you order 10 items from American Eagle, just say that the good stuff wasn't included.

That's a good idea but I'm curious if there's some kind of system used to make sure the right items are in each package.

Re: Tell them you never recieved the package
Got a PS3 doing this. Ordered it from a pay-monthly catalogue online, they stupidly left it outside my house (I was out). I rang up and said it wasn't there when I got in so they sent me a replacement which I just sent back when it arrived.

I've never signed for Newegg, even when it was a 800 dollar order, they just leave it outside my garage
